  • Sometimes we are all winners...

    Mr Y and Miss B were teenage parents with a 10 month old baby and wanted to set up home together. Lack of income was causing Mr Y to give up his studies and was preventing Miss B from returning to hers. The caseworker assisted them to claim benefits as a couple, despite several erroneous refusals to accept their claim. They have now been able to move into a home as a family and have an income of £175.25 per week after their housing costs have been met.
    They were also awarded a backdated lump sum, which has helped them set up their home. Both partners are in full time education, which is enhancing their future life chances.
