How Volunteers Contribute at Gateshead
Gateshead Community Legal Advice Centre would be unable to provide many of its services if it was not for the dedication of our volunteers.
Volunteers carry out a wide range of roles and are involved in innovative pilot projects. Common roles include: general advice work, administration, fundraising, social policy work, publicity/ media work, reception and Trustee Board membership.
Benefits for you
In any of our volunteer roles, you will develop skills in a number of valuable areas, like communication and dealing with the public, as well as increasing your self-confidence through practical hands-on experience. Common benefits for our existing volunteers include:
- Personal development, for example, you might improve your IT and organisational skills as an administrator, learn how to deal with the media and develop research skills as a campaigner.
- Meeting new people from across the community. This has helped volunteers new to the area to settle into the community.
- Career enhancement; many employers value volunteering and your time spent with us can help you into paid work or help improve your promotional prospects at work.
- Gaining satisfaction and reward from spending your free time in a community orientated helpful way.
